Conflicts

War is not limited to its battles, even if they are photographed with great brilliance by men and women who risk their lives to bring back images of the front.

War is a complex phenomenon that transcends the violence of battles; it consists of political, economic, social, psychological and – why not? – psychic aspects. That is why war is a phenomenon that I have always watched with fascination, even though my ambition was – to paraphrase Robert Capa – to be a peace correspondent.

War reveals the best and the worst of men in a short period of time. This is why instead of “War”, I prefer the term “Conflict”.
